Hi, my name is Tea Deak. I’ve been a missionary at New Hope Church in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, since 2009.

In 2017, my issues depression took a turn for the worse. On top of the depression, I dealt with the loss of my father and some other unexpected losses over the following three years. Instead of recovering, I worked more. At some point, my struggles peaked to a point I could no longer handle.

When COVID hit, I wanted to take a sabbatical to recover. However, when I prayed, I sensed Jesus wanting me to stay where I am in Tuzla and trust Him with my struggles. I did that, and over time, my struggles became a place of new growth. Dealing with pain and difficult life circumstances, a new fountain of creativity opened up, and I started to paint, draw, and write.

In 2020, Jesus answered my prayer and delivered me from depression, but issues with burnout remained. Now I know that Jesus led me on a journey of expressing my struggles through creativity to embark on a journey of inner healing and restoration. As I share my stories and lead others to find their wells of creativity, Jesus is healing other broken hearts too.
