After a lengthy phone call with someone experiencing depression, I felt drained. I was weary of repeatedly saying, "give it a try," and recommending that, rather than making excuses and continually complaining, the individual should TRY to do daily activities that needed to be done.
The following day, something unusual happened during my prayer. While I was sharing my present challenges with Jesus, I noticed my thoughts echoing in the voice of someone who had drained my energy the previous day. I strongly felt that my grievances and excuses to the Father in heaven were as uncomfortable to Him as the complaints of the disheartening person had been to me the day before.
My prayers filled with complaints were answered through advice I had given to someone else the previous day. The response was, "Just give it a try." To overcome my limitations and uncertainty about the best course of action, I needed to take initiative instead of complaining. I had to make an effort to do my best.
No matter the difficulties faced today, instead of complaining and finding excuses, the answer to your prayer is: "Just try to do your best."
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” - Colossians 3:23-24
