It is not common for me to talk or write about my dreams. Nevertheless, today I feel like opening up more than usual, so I will share a dream I had not long ago.
In a dream, I saw a troubling scene of destruction similar to the ongoing floods in the Philippines. Rocks were being thrown at people and objects outside by the heavy rain and strong wind, causing considerable damage. Despite this, numerous individuals opted to stay outdoors, facing the storm without seeking protection. I encouraged others to seek shelter with me while looking for a safe place until the rain stopped.
Upon waking up, I had a feeling that the dream was a premonition of potential spiritual attacks in the guise of accusations. Destructive forces can sometimes be disguised in deceptive forms that are not easily recognizable. They may masquerade as "well-intentioned advice" concealing unwanted, harmful guidance, leading to internal conflicts. At other times, it could be an internal voice replaying hurtful words spoken against us. Alternatively, it might be a barrage of negative remarks from others causing us unnecessary pain and leaving us emotionally scarred. Have you encountered any of these situations recently? If so, you too can seek refuge in a safe haven.
When facing such "attacks," I find solace in reciting two particular passages from the Bible. Psalm 91 and Ephesians 6:10-17 are my go-to verses. At times, negative thoughts assail me so intensely that the only refuge I discover is in reading the word of God aloud, persisting until the negative voices subside.
Speaking the word of God can often bring courage and strength, but sometimes it can also unearth old wounds that expose deeper issues like unforgiveness or bitterness. In either scenario, it guides me towards a path of healing and restoration, even when faced with strong external pressures to succumb to negativity that can take root in the heart and bring about destruction.
During difficult times, I also find solace in partaking in daily communion at home. I often tell to Jesus: “I do this in remembrance of you”, and share a personal moment in His company. I also pray for His blood to cleanse any unrepentant sin in my heart that could give the enemy an opportunity to cause harm. Having faced numerous challenges before, I am committed to seeking refuge and safeguarding myself from potential harm in the future.
How will you find shelter while facing difficulties today?
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.” - Hebrews 10:19-22
